J&J subsidiary LTL Management filed a bankruptcy plan in New Jersey late on Monday which outlines how the company will pay various types of cancer patients in an arrangement for bankruptcy. April 10, 2023 Update Bloomberg has an interesting report on a brand new law that has been passed in New Jersey that is shedding new light on litigation funding in the baby powder plaintiffs in the class action. Litigation funders Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of lawsuits in the case of Johnson & Johnson (J&J) regarding talc products, in exchange for a percentage of any profits. J&J is now willing the payment of $8.9 billion in settlements for all lawsuits.
The funders’ involvement is publicly available due to a New Jersey court rule requiring the disclosure of certain information regarding outside funding backers.
