J&J affiliate LTL Management filed a bankruptcy plan in New Jersey late on Monday that describes how the company will pay various types of cancer victims as part of the bankruptcy settlement. Hyperbole did not go unnoticed the lawyers representing victims call it the most significant “fraudulent move that has occurred in United States history.”
Notwithstanding the legal mumbo jumbo, J&J does not really believe this bankruptcy will be able to last. But it is a way to push for this $8.9 billion settlement and keep the pressure on plaintiffs.

Funders of litigation Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of claims from Johnson & Johnson (J&J) concerning talc products in exchange for a share of any wins. J&J is now willing to pay $8.9 billion to settle lawsuits.
