Litigation funders Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of claims from Johnson & Johnson (J&J) concerning talc products in exchange for a portion of any winnings. J&J is now offering to pay $8.9 billion to settle all lawsuits.

The funders’ involvement is made public due to the New Jersey court rule requiring the disclosure of certain information regarding outside funding backers.
